Day 18 – Your favorite outfit

Favorite outfit (and the subject of a potential sub post) is called the Imperial Plate set.  Any human plate wearer looks good in it.

I have not tried it with a dwarf, night elf, or draenei yet, but since humans in Stormwind are the only ones who wear plate of this kind, it would look absurd.

This is the Black Mageweave set for clothies.  Makes humans look oh so delicious!  I just wish I could make a set for my wife…then I would have to convince her to wear it.  This set would look good on night elves or draenei as well…not so good on gnomes.  Something about gnomes and bikinis does not sit well... with me.

Day 17 – Your favorite spot (in game or outside it)

Lately I am spending a lot of time either farming Whiptail in Uldum.  Sucks, but I need the gold to buy mounts.  Two hours a day gets me about 40 stacks.  Since I live in South Korea, prime time for me is off time for everyone else.  There are usually 3-4 others at the most farming against me, and I figure the same number of horde as well.  Furthermore, I figure 75% of those are farming ore, not herbs.

I am also spending a lot of time in BGs just to get HKs.  If I can convince the group I am in to pull a turtle, I can get 200-250 HKs.  It wastes 30-45 mins of my time (like the AVs of old) but it is so much fun.  Even if we lose, I still enjoy the hell out of it.  Prime BGs for these are IOC and AV.

I want to get another mammoth mount and a Darkmoon card (Hurricane) for my lock.  I cannot figure out Destruction DPS for raid finder.  While I can hit 12k in LFG, I suffer in LFR and dip to 10-11 and usually get kicked.

I have the money for this, but I want to maintain about a 30k balance.

Day 16 – Things you miss (post Cataclysm)

There are so many things in WoW that it is hard to say what I miss, as there is always something to do.

I miss old ZA and ZG.  The old 60 raids should have been kept with a heroic option.  I hate myself for not getting exalted with the ZG rep before the change.  It was so easy to grind the rep, I was busy screwing off doing other things.  They kept SFK and Deadmines, how hard would have been to keep those two as 10 mans?

I also miss old Onyxia…speaking of which I think there are a few achieves I need from there this week!

I don’t miss the old style BC heroics, those were absolutely tough.  Gearing up back then was an arduous process, something that took me forever on Sizz (and Gankalicious).  Those were the only two 70s I had at the time.

I don't miss the pre LFG days either.  It was a pain in the ass to get a group.  If you were not in a decent guild, you were stuck grinding or questing.  That meant a few hours in Desolace killing mobs over and over...

Day 15 – Your desktop background (on your computer) and why you chose it

My current desktop is of me, my daughter, and a friend all on our hunters.  Each of us has Mazzranache, a Mulgore Hatchling, and the Swift Lovebird mount.  While just one of us riding around makes head turns and gets comments, all three of us look absolutely silly together.  I am glad I took the time for this during the lunar festival.
I only wish I could have farmed more than 4 mounts (I gave one to Sheelar as a gift and one to my daughter).

Getting nine birds to go exactly where you want them ain't easy, but here ya go!

Day 14 – This upsets you

Trolls…unfortunately I fall prey to them, but alas! I have found a workaround to this.  While trolls lay bait for other people to bite on, I lay counter-bait instead.

You’ll have the standard jackwads in BGs or LFR who spam profanity, racial epithets, etc and are just trying to provoke a reaction.  There is an easy way to fix it!  Simply send them a PM asking them to not use whatever led you to PM them in the first place.  Technically, this is the first step one should always take when dealing with a spammer, troll, jackwad, or whatever.  Start at the root of the problem and work your way up.  If you have ever been in the military, think of it as the Chain of Command.  On server, I’ve PM’ed guildmasters or sent them an in game mail.  This does not always work though as the toon in question might the guildmaster’s alt, FWB, or dealer.  While you can do a ticket in game, it’s best to do one through battle.net.  It allows 2000 characters and screenshots.  While screenshots can be faked, it does give GMs some reference and solid evidence to prove what happened did.

I’m gonna have to find a screenshot or two of this in action…guess that means as I write this at work, I am planning to do some BGs tonight…it’s Battle of Gilneas weekend I think.  Combined with homework and daughter’s science fair project, playtime is not looking good.

Sorry, no luck finding a screenshot of trolls, they are most likely backed up on a DVD somewhere.

I'll keep my eyes open!

Day 13 – People (players/bloggers) that you admire

Wow…this is going to be fun, so long as I can have some fun!

I truly admire a small group of players on my server who I have formed a close knit relationship over the last few years.  I was in a raiding guild called Primus Pilus back in 2008-2009 and got some good stuff done in TOC 10/25 and a little bit in ICC.  We slso downed Onyxia multiple times as a guild.  Our standard operation was TOC 25, then split for TOC 10.  If everything went smooth, which it usually did, we’d hit Ony 25/10 with the same pattern.

For Cataclysm, I joined Ordo Solaris, a social raiding guild. I’ve dabbled in Bastion of Twilight, Throne of the Four Winds, and Firelands.  I’d say I have done Dragon Soul but LFR does not count!

The list of players is as follows:

Sheelar – Damn good pally healer
Sönic – Great warrior tank (also has pally tank, just as good)
Straycat – Druid healer
Hydi – Druid healer during TOC 10/25 days
Chewbarka  - Druid tank in TOC/ICC, inactive now
Teetsman – Shammy healer in TOC/ICC, inactive now
Demolish – Enhancement shammy on Gilneas
Merrilik – Warlock on Gilneas

Demolish and Merrilik were the two goobers who got me addicted to WoW in the first place.  I saved them for last.

Bloggers I admire?  I’ve only been doing this a short time but I have to give a shout out to Red Cow.  Thanks Doll for getting me started and keeping me started!

Day 12 – A usual day in your life/online time

A day in the life of Sizz?  How boring this must be, at least from my perspective.  I’ve been in the Air Force for 23 years.  Currently as I am writing this, I am sitting in a basement somewhere in South Korea.  It is day four of a two week exercise called Key Resolve.  It is a computer simulated exercise designed to test our responses to hypothetical North Korea hostility.  North Korea hates these exercises with a passion.  Some of the saber rattling by North Korea is as follows:

“The war drills are an unpardonable infringement upon the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK as they evidently target the DPRK, which is in the mourning period”

Last Saturday, Pyongyang had vowed to launch a “sacred war” against South Korea and the U.S.

Kim, the North's leader, has instructed the military to "make a powerful retaliatory strike" at South Korea if Seoul intrudes even slightly into the North's waters.

“Land a strong retaliatory strike on the heads of the foes if the enemy encroaches on the country’s seas where our autonomy applies by so much as 0.001 millimeter,” Kim was quoted as saying by Pyongyang’s state media Korean Central News Agency.

“(North Korea) will enter a holy war to bury the traitors, and domestic and foreign warmongers,” the commission said in a statement.

“Nuclear weapons are not exclusive to the U.S. We have means of war that are more powerful than the U.S.’ nuclear weapons and cutting-edge strike equipment no one else has.”
"The U.S. is sadly mistaken if it thinks it is safe as its mainland is far away across the ocean. There is no limit to the striking intensity and range of our army and people to wipe out the aggressors," the statement said.
"We will deliver a devastating punishment to the traitors, whose strength cannot compare to the sea of fire seen in the Yeonpyeong attack."
South Korean officials "will never be forgiven. You will not be able to escape our blows just because you are in Seoul and hiding behind the back of the U.S. imperialists. We are right in front of you and our bayonets are already aimed at your throats."
It denounced the annual joint exercises as a "silent declaration of war," describing them as "unpardonable war hysteria."
I read things like this each day and I think of a monkey in its cage that wants attention, so it bangs the bars of its cage until it gets what it wants. (repeat in 3-4 months)

Anyway, typical day is PT from 530-645, work from 730-ish to Noon, about an hour for lunch with the wife, and back to the grind until about 430 or so.  End time depends on what is going on, whether A/C is broken (record office temperature was 91.2F), or if our bosses left early as well.

In WoW, I’ll generally have a plan for the week on what I want to do.  Last week I wanted to hit 10k HKs on Sizz. I needed just over 600 to get it.  This goes in line with hitting 9k achieve points on Sizz as well.  I can do it, I just need to start working on Loremaster and that would close it out definitely.

Usually my day is at least one BG and one random dungeon; though I think tonight will be LFR on my Rogue.  Tomorrow (as of writing this) is Friday, so I can skimp on sleep just a little.  Since this and next week are 5am to 5pm (meaning I get off at 6-6:30), I am beat when I get home.   Tonight will be a good night as I have bribed the Drop Fairy to get me a new off hand!

Day 11 – Bad habits and flaws

I’m not perfect…I don’t think anyone is.  I’m guilty of being distracted at times as a healer and getting a player or two killed.  With the ease of LFR, even my crap geared elemental shammy has healed with way through with 11k heals (yes I am a baddie).

Also, see bating in a previous post (Day 8 #8).  While it might not be a bad habit, some players make it too easy to report them.  While I could sit back and click report player, I’m willing to take the time to screen shot it, open up battle.net, and complete a real ticket and upload the screen.

Lastly, I am also guilty of using PVP gear to inflate my gear level to get into raid finder.

Should I change the name of my blog to Baddie McBad’s Tale of Fail?

ps almost made a personal guild that was named "fails at failing"

Day 10 – Blog/Website favorites

I love to read Red Cow Rise and Twisted Nether.  Problem is most fun sites are blocked from work.  I’m actually typing this at work and will upload once I get home!  Most government entities are run by the Fun Police and block out any website remotely related to fun.

I also check wowheadnews and wow insider (aka joystiq.com) as well each day.  Usually I log in, say hi to guild, and read for 10 mins or so.  That’s the best time to queue for Dragon Soul LFL (looking for loot).

I am still new to the blogscape and have not made many contacts.  If you know of a good read, please link one below!

Day 08 – 10 things we don’t know about you

Wow, then things you don’t know about me…this is gonna be fun!  I am going to try to concentrate on in game stuff.

1.       I did not spec any toon as a healer until the middle of 2009.  Primus Pilus, my guild at the time, needed a druid healer and I was the only one with a level 80 druid.  Needless to say, it took about a week to get decently geared to where I could handle heroics.  From there, it was ICC all the way.
2.       I once had two shaman on Azgalor, first being Hooahmiester, and the second being Shamaneggs.  I had both to level 40 before I realized having two was kinda useless.  I had Hooah’s enchanting to 225 and nothing done on Eggs.  Although I liked the name Shamaneggs better (plus it was a drooltastic Draenai female), Hooah had more work put in and was not deleted.
3.       I have never seriously played a horde toon, other than a DK I rolled on Akabeko’s server.  I have a Tauren DK named Inthemood, a take on Cow/Moo and a favorite song by Rush.
4.       I have never, ever, botted or bought gold.
5.       In addition to reporting botters (mining/herbing), I actively camp them for free honor (while a ticket is sent in).
6.       I have two guild banks on my second account, down from four I had at one time.  The Echo, Death by Alliance, Likes to Gank Lowbies, and damn…I cannot remember the fourth one.  I still have Echo and Death, each with 4 tabs.  I only let Real Friends in so they can use it for personal storage.
7.       I’ve never server transferred, free or paid.  I have seriously considered it at times.  If Blizzard ever offers transfers off Azgalor PVP to a PVE server, I might be gone for good.
8.       I will occasionally bait players into breaking the TOS.  Perfect example is where some jackass is taking trash in trade/raid/party, I will politely ask them to refrain from using profanity.  Remember, the key word is polite.  Once they reply back directly to you with something like” %$#! *&@# *&@$” they are done.  Sometimes it is too easy!
9.       I occasionally play the Auction House to make money.  While I could do dailies, I get burned out after 3-4 days of this.  With 10 85s, it gets old pretty quick.  I also get burned out after 3-4 days of doing nothing but playing the Auction House.
10.     I am looking forward to the pet battles portion of Mop!

Day 07 – The reason behind your blog’s name

In October 2006, I arrived in Hawaii after leaving Texas.  While in Texas, our team ran for PT most days.  This was on the average 4-6 miles, 3-4 times a week.  I was a sleek, sexy, 204 lbs (in my own mind).

In Hawaii, I think it was my 3rd day of work, we had mandatory PT with the commander, because a fellow flight member failed to show for her mandatory PT.  Don’t you  love the punish everyone when one person screws up?  I f’ing hate it.

Back to the nickname lol.  After stretching, our commander, Lt Col Flutterkicks, ran us around the ¼ mile track.  After 2 miles, most of the kids began to bitch about it.  Me?  I kept running and encouraging them to “KEEP RUNNING”.  Somewhere after 3-4 miles, we stopped, cooled down, and someone said my legs were sizzling out there.  This was of course, about 2 months before a few idiots on my flight told me to try WoW.

After trying it, and naming my first toon Sizzlelegs, I figured why not call it, “Sizzle’s Legs”?  While I can’t run like I used to (back/hip problems), I can still do 3-4 miles at a slog pace (also called the Freight Train of Death pace).

There ya have it, the story of Sizz.  More tomorrow, as you hear 10 things you don’t know about me.

Day 06 – Your workplace/desk (photo and/or description)

Got this desk while in Hawaii…I think it was May 2009 or so. It is nowhere big enough for me to work with, but it will do for now. I’ve got my computer and my wife’s as well.

Only real bad thing is the way the house is wired for internet. Koreans love wireless…I HATE IT. I wanted to get a 2nd outlet hooked up and stick her computer down the hall but I was informed it would be another $50 a month because it is a separate connection. I was like WTF!?!?!?!?!?!

So I managed to acquire a wireless card for free about two weeks later. Someone was tossing an old computer out and I happened to find it first. Lucky me it had a wireless card!

I play in what I call “Pirate Mode” a lot. My bird, Conner, who is a Sun Conure, would rather sit and hang out on my shoulder than his cage. I don’t blame him. While sitting on my shoulder, my body becomes a playground for him.

He’ll put holes in my shirt, pull neck hairs (ouch!), break a gold necklace ($20 to fix), and crap in random directions. I’m over it, trust me. He’s like a 3 year old mentally, but on the same token, he’s pretty smart for having a bird brain.

Day 05 – Favourite item(s) in game

Favorite Item...this is gonna be a easy one!

I think its the item I farmed BRD for over and over until I got it. And this was before the portals were added in in 4.0 so something.

Ambassador Flamelash drops the Circle of Flame.  Awesome item with a 5% drop rate.  While it is not transmogrifiable for a druid, I will still throw it on just to strut around Stormwind.

I've had a total of two of these drop.  Second one I was running my daughter's priest and Viola!  She got a nice epic drop.

Day 04 – Your best WoW memory

What is my best WoW Memory?  That's a tough question since I have done so much.  With 10 85s, I've seen just about everything except Ragnaros H25 (and then some!).

I can fondly recall a Kara run with some lower level guildies.  It was me at level 80 along with our raid healer, Teetsman. Sadly her toon is not online anymore, but I assume she'll be back eventually.  We one shotted everything, with absolutely no one dying.  The best part was Prince Malchezaar though.  When I charged and started to tank him against the wall, the random number god struck, dropping an inferno right on us.  All lowbies died instantly.

I had to move Prince 5-6 times as he was hell bent on wiping Teets and I.  Prot warriors at level 80 didn't do the fantastic DPS they do today (even with gear inflation taken into account).  Needless to say, 9 minutes later, Prince fell to my blade (and a few flame shocks from Teets) and we looted!

I'd say the floor on the top of the tower was about 60% covered by infernos.  I've repped out with 5 toons so far and am still working the rest though mount farming.  This WoW memory would be easily replaced if the mount dropped.  I've only seen it once :(

Day 03 – Your first day playing WoW

My first day playing Wow…jeez that would be back in Dec 2006.  A few of the guys I worked with played and told me to try it out.  I think the game I was playing pretty heavily before that was Sword of the Stars, which I still load up and tool around with. Back to WoW, I had no idea WTF I was doing back then. I started a Human Warrior and probably died 3-4 times trying to figure it out.  I think I made 6 levels in 2 hours, which by those standards in 2006 was pretty good.

I didn’t know about flight paths, mounts, or that only night elves could jump and do a flip.  I was also insanely jealous that a hunter could rapid fire a ranged weapon.

I also didn’t have much help from my friends as they were in the mid 30s, mad intent on leveling.  The guild I was in with them was called Shadow Guardians and with the Burning Crusade coming out, they were splitting the guild into two halves, under 40 and over 40.  That idea seemed pretty stupid to me so I quit and went guildless for a month or two.

That about sums it up!  With all the hardship and lack of help I wonder why I kept playing, but I glad I didn’t.

Day 02 – Why you decided to start a blog Day 02 – Why you decided to start a blog

I was searching around the net for something last year and came across Red CowRise.  It is one of my favorite reads, along with Twisted Nether.  Although it is now blocked at work, I still follow it at home while waiting for the LFR timer to count down.  I figured I could write enough stuff to fill a blog, and MAYBE, just MAYBE, someone would read it.  I tank, heal, and DPS, so there is always something for me to write about, test out, or work on.  I love taking screenshots and have about 15 GB saved on my external, some from the early days of my wow playing.  I only wish I had made the time last year to keep up with this and not put it off (April 2011 – Oct 2011 then Oct 2011 to Jan 2012).

Perhaps I will dig up some screens of my toons in their low 30s...

Day 1 - Introduce yourself

Started this last year and never actually started (if that makes sense).  I’m Sizzlelegs in game, Sarge at work, and because I joined my current guild with my Paladin (Palladude), they call me Pala.  I’ve been in the Air Force since 1989 and am getting ready to punch out.  It’s been real, it’s been fun, and at times, real fun.  I am in South Korea and have been here since Dec 2009.  Before that, I’ve been to Hawaii, Texas, North Dakota, and California.  I’ve also done my time in Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, and Kuwait.  No plans on where we're heading from here but Las Vegas is not out of the question.
